In October 2018, we started working with residents on the Chalcots Estate. Over the two years, our resident Community Organisers have:

  • Organised community events on the estate.

  • Created the Chalcots Bank, where residents were given £100 each to come up with a community project.

  • Spoken to 250 residents about living on the Chalcots

  • Created the ‘Chalcots Community Manifesto’, outlining 9 community goals for the estate.

  • Organised 3 Hacks, which came up with 3 popular ideas for change on the Chalcots.

  • Organised community activities, including: cinema trips, a Fun Day, a Photography Group, a gardening group, a baking initiative and a Tea, Cake and Chat group .

Hilgrove Estate

Since July 2020, we’ve been working with residents on the Hilgrove estate. Resident community organisers have:

  • Launched a photo exhibition on the estate called ‘Humans of Hilgrove’, which showcased the residents of Hilgrove.

  • Conducted in-depth interviews with 52 residents, and 21 local professionals.

  • Devised community goals with residents based on these interviews.

  • Hosted 3 Assembly workshops with residents and professionals around the three main themes of our research.

Sidney Boyd Court

Since 2022, we’ve been working with residents on Sidney Boyd Court. Resident Community Organisers have set up a weekly coffee morning for friends and neighbours. They hope to continue working with other residents and local bodies to redevelop the Club House based within the estate.
